Blackberry Root Barrier - 18" x 100' Roll
Blackberry Root Barrier is an ideal material for keeping blackberry bushes under control. This barrier will address rhizome shoots that travel underground by physically blocking them from intruding into other unwanted garden or landscape areas.
The barrier is constructed from durable HDPE plastic and is designed to last 50+ years when installed underground.
Because blackberry plants tend to spread rapidly if not controlled properly, this root barrier will assist in your containment efforts by stopping blackberry roots from being able to creep underground. Pruning and maintenance are still required to ensure that berry seeds don't start new shoot over the barrier.
The typical application of this barrier:
- Dig a trench 16 inches deep where you are blocking the bushes
- Measure, cut, and place the barrier in the trench so that 2 inches of the barrier are above grade. This prevents the roots from trying to crawl over. Note, you will need to watch the prune shoots that come over the barrier
- Backfill the trench with the remaining dirt
